You don't need to count calories to be in a calorie deficit, you just have to eat less than the energy it takes to sustain our body weight. It doesn't matter how many meals we it, its our total energy consumption. Some people prefer 2-3 big meals, others 6 smaller meals. I only have one large meal but snack constantly at night.
