Have you stopped watching the news?

I posed this question on LinkedIn.

The post was a poll that went viral, with over 350,000 views and over 13,000 poll votes in just 24 hours.

It went on to receive just over 20,000 votes.

Almost three-quarters of people (73%) voted that they have stopped watching the news.

I know it’s only a LinkedIn poll, but 13,000 professional people on LinkedIn is a pretty decent sample size!

The LinkedIn post

As I’m a marketing contractor, I do a bit of networking. I also have casual conversations with people at the park or basketball court about life. It has come up in conversation a few times that people have stopped watching the news.

Not just me then!

So last night, I was inspired to post a poll on LinkedIn asking about it. The copy I used is as follows:

I used to be a very avid news watcher.

As a kid, my religious parents would sometimes tell me to leave the room if there was a particular story on.
