I know, I know… Nuts are healthy, right? Do you know what’s not healthy? Obesity…

We’ve probably all heard at some point that snacking on almonds will help us to help lose weight.

It’s common for weight loss and nutrition advice to recommend nuts due to their nutritional benefits, such as protein or micronutrient content (vitamins and minerals).

But, these articles tend to neglect one crucial factor — nuts are very calorie-dense. And people are typically bad at portion control.

It’s far harder to lose or manage our weight if our diet is heavy on calorie-dense foods.

Generally, nuts are very calorie-dense. Calorie-dense means they contain high calories (energy) relative to their weight.

In this section, I’ll give a breakdown of the number of calories in common variants of nuts.

The number of calories listed below is per 100 grams of raw nuts, in no particular order.
