A mesocycle tends to be closer to 8-10 weeks, especially if we're volume cycling for hypertrophy. I'll add a set a week over the block, starting with say 6 exercises twice a week for the targeted muscle group (we can't do this with every muscle group, we end up doing way too much volume far before the block is finished, fatigue getting too great). So week 1 I'm doing 12 sets, week 2 14 sets. By the end of the block, you're doing about 30 sets, which is a lot. Then deload for a week and start again
